Parakatar Mountain, located in the Vayots Dzor Province, rises to an elevation of 2,528 meters above sea level. From the top, there is a panoramic view of the town of Vayk, the Zangezur Mountains, Vorotan Pass, and Lake Artavan.
At the foot of the mountain, at 2,240 metres above sea level, lies Lake Artavan – also known as Allich or Map Lake. The lake has a unique shape that looks a bit like a world map and covers around 6 hectares.
The hike starts in the village of Ughedzor. From there, we’ll walk up to the summit of Mount Parakatar. After a rest and time to enjoy the views, we’ll head down to Lake Artavan. The hike finishes in the village of Artavan.
