Mount Armaghan is an extinct volcano, 2,829 metres high. It is one of Armenia’s most beautiful places, perfect for a short, exciting hike. At the top, there is a small crater lake and a church made of basalt, built in 2009 on the site of an old chapel.
From the summit, visitors can enjoy great views of Lake Sevan and the Gegham Mountains. On a clear day, you can see mountain landshafts for many kilometres — a real treat for photographers, travellers, and anyone who loves nature.
The hike starts from the village of Madina at the foot of the mountain. The route is not difficult and is suitable for people with basic fitness. The trail passes through meadows, pastures, and rocky slopes, showing the full natural beauty of the region.
This hike is perfect for those looking for hikes in Armenia and who are interested in geology, volcanoes, and history. It offers a mix of quiet views, religious buildings, and wide, open mountain scenes.
