The wetland fauna of Armenia, one of the components of the republic's ornithological tourism (bird watching or "birding"), is so revered by amateur or professional ornithologists.

Armash ponds and Lake Sevan with its surrounding wetlands serve as an important stopping point for many near-water and wetland birds during spring and autumn migrations.

You visit - the island of Gulls - colonies of endemics - Armenian gulls that nest here, constitute a significant part of the entire population of Asia Minor and are one of the largest nesting colonies in the Caucasus and in the world. The reserve Lichk (Litk), which includes small lakes and feeds their river, is one of the places with the highest concentration of water-swamp birds in the basin of Lake Sevan. The Armash fish breeding ponds are also unique in their species diversity. The high density of birds nesting here in different seasons, is striking in abundance and has about 220 species, including globally endangered species: marble teal and scab. Here you can also see rare representatives of the fauna: the spoonbill, pigalitsa, and many other birds in their natural habitat.
